Foreword

Global Knowledge IT skills and payroll reports continue to provide the most realistic and comprehensive data analysis for the internal operations of the global IT department. This year, more than 16,200 respondents from around the world, including North America, Europe, Middle East, Africa, Latin America and the Asia Pacific, completed the survey.

The report draws the following conclusions and trends:

  • IT salary levels are maintaining growth momentum.
  • Network security jobs have the highest wages in the global IT market: an average of $82,000/year.
  • 89% of respondents have at least one effective professional IT certification, an increase of 3% from the previous year.

IT salary levels maintain growth momentum

  • 50% to 72% of respondents have received a raise in the past year.
  • The main reason for the salary increase mentioned by 40% of respondents is due to job performance.

More than 15% of IT staff attributed the increase in salary to the increase in new skills, which is the return on relevant IT certification.

The reason for the salary increase is closely related to the salary increase. The report shows that external promotion or external level transfer has achieved the largest average salary increase. For example, US respondents said they had to go to the new company to get a 13-19% salary increase. Internal promotion can also get a raise, but it is smaller than the external one.

Respondents who received a raise due to new IT certification indicated that their salary increase was between 9-16%.

Respondents who received a salary increase due to job responsibilities expansion or the development of valuable new skills indicated that their salary increase was between 7-13%.
